Adjud gravel pit was taken over in 2010 from our partner, Somaco.
Due to the obsolescence of the gravel pit equipment and the lack of the natural reserve in the area, in 2019 a new sorting station was placed in the outskirts of Homocea commune, on the right bank of the Siret river. With the new sorting-crushing station, consisting of the latest generation equipment, it was possible to reduce consumption and pollution, while still increasing production to 500,000 tons of aggregates per year.
The estimated resource, including leased and concessioned areas, reaches approximately 4.8 million tons.
Adjud gravel pit has collaborated over time with companies such as Somaco, UMB, Erbasu, Hidroconstructia, Constructii Generale Moldova, Viacons Rutier, Vega, Tancrad, Lemacons; companies with road construction profile that had national road projects, bridges, footbridges, water and sewage projects.
Currently, our gravel pit is the main supplier of 0-4mm sort (sand) for the Somaco Adjud precast factory, and continues collaborations with all the big builders in the area, constantly supplying them with different types of ballast and mineral aggregates, of the best quality.
Benefiting from the very large natural resource and the increased production capacity, Balastiera Adjud is ready to participate with considerable volumes in the large construction projects such as the Moldovan A7 highway, which is expected to start in 2023.
Adjud ballast benefits of numerous quality certifications (SRAC) and authorizations such as:
